Alumnae Careers talk – Lydia Hunter (OKS 2005) and Miranda Harle (OKS 2012)

Last week Lydia Hunter (OKS 2005) and Miranda Harle (OKS 2012), returned to King’s to give a careers talk to current Fifth and Sixth Formers about the world of Marketing and the differences between working in an agency or directly for a company. Lydia is Head of Digital at L’Oreal Paris, and Miranda is Client Manager at Whalar. Whalar, is an influencer marketing platform focusing on providing a new operating model for producing high quality creative work and accessing engaged audiences.

Lydia and Miranda both highlighted the importance of taking an interest into what is happening with businesses, and taking an interest into different industries. They also spoke about the need to be present on social media, having suitable profiles and making sure that you are able to have an understanding of the different social media platforms available and their audiences.

One of the key messages from the talk was to encourage students to do what they enjoy as you never know what career you are going to end up in.

Some of Lydia and Miranda’s teachers from when they were at King’s joined a mix of Fifth and Sixth Formers to hear all about what they had been up to since leaving, and then took part in a Q&A session.

They also had a tour of the school with the alumni team, giving them the opportunity to see what’s changed over the years.

Our next careers talk, on April 26th will be from Mrs Rule (OKS 2002) Business and Economics teacher.
