Alumni London Get-Together

We were delighted to welcome alumni and their guests on Thursday 11th November to the Savile Club for our annual London get-together. It was fantastic to see former pupils spanning the decades from 1960 alumni to 2017 leavers!

Guests were treated to a fascinating speech from writer and director Gabriel Range (OKS 1992) who revealed what drove him to move from studying medicine to making movies and gave us a sneak peak of films he has directed.

We were also thrilled to present a Leading Light Award to Adi Kasliwal (OKS 2008) and Nickolas Grace (OKS 1962) . Adi gained a first-class engineering degree from University of Oxford after leaving King’s and in 2014 he became a board member of the NHS innovation programme.  In 2017, he founded Personal Alarm Watch (PAW) – a watch that helps older people be more active and independent and connects you to emergency help at a push of a button. He recently won two Social Care Awards in 2020 for his work and is a deserving winner of a Leading Light Award for entrepreneurship and innovation.

Nickolas trained at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, and made his first West End appearance in 1970 in Trevor Peacock’s ERB at the Strand Theatre. Nickolas joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1972 and played in Stratford, London and New York. In 1975 he played Hamlet at Derby Playhouse, and then returned to the RSC 1976-78, performing alongside Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Beryl Reid and Roger Rees. He is probably best known for his performance as the flamboyant Anthony Blanche in ITV’s Brideshead Revisited (BAFTA Nominated) and is an excellent role model for aspiring actors at King’s.
