A weekend of reunions

On Saturday 13 May, King’s proudly hosted two milestone reunions for our Classes of 1967 and 2007.

The day was a great success with many attendees coming from near and far to walk down memory lane. Our corridors were buzzing with nostalgic chatter; alumni and staff coming together and sharing memories about their experiences of past activities, lessons, classrooms and trips. Old photographs, an old detention register, school magazines and several notable stories of hijinks provided talking points which led to more memories being triggered.

During our Class of 1967 reunion our alumni enjoyed a presentation and a delicious lunch within our Old Library. It was agreed that the group would try to muster a table for the School’s forthcoming Founder’s Dinner so that those who were unable to make the reunion would have an opportunity to reconnect with their old school pals. It was lovely to note that the feelings of camaraderie between our guests had not waned even after 50 years!

Our Class of 2007 really embraced the opportunity to get together and catch up. Many in attendance had stayed in touch over the years – indeed one alumni couple shared news of their engagement – but for some it was their first time reconnecting with their old school friends for just over a decade.

Our Class of 2007 reunion was rather special for King’s as we welcomed back both former boys but also girls –  a mixed gender group of alumni for only the second time. It is great to see some of our first pioneering girls now also making their way in the world.

Headmaster, Mr Ramsey said “It is always a delight to welcome back former King’s pupils. It’s fascinating to hear about their achievements and families and I’m always so impressed by the diversity of the careers they have forged.”

Reunions are fantastic fun! It’s wonderful to see alumni come back to King’s or get together in a new location. If you’ve studied at King’s and have a group you’d like to reconnect with, please let our Alumni Office know and we’ll help you get the ball rolling. It’s a great way to reunite with the people who made your school experience memorable.
