King’s vs Alumni Races

As has now become tradition towards the end of the school year, on Wednesday 10 July, we are organising a mini regatta, followed by a light barbeque at the Boathouse.

This will be a wonderful occasion to celebrate the Club’s successes over the year and a last chance for everyone to get together before the summer break. If you would be interested in racing, then please make contact with the designated representative for the boat, so that a crew can be put together before the event.

The King’s Rowing Club has had another successful year, with 112 athletes representing the club at the National Schools’ Regatta and the club has once again recorded numerous wins on the regatta circuit. We have our boys 1st and 2nd VIII and senior quad involved in the Henley campaign.

The end of term races are a fantastic chance for whole rowing community to come together at the end of the season to enjoy some summer racing and award colours to the senior athletes. We look forward to welcoming all supporters, alumni and current athletes on the last evening of racing for the current academic year.

A trip down memory lane…

Below is a photo that was sent by John Heath OKS ’58. The image shows a photo of the King’s School’s 2nd VIII going under London’s Hammersmith Bridge to win the ‘Schools Clinker Challenge Cup’ on March 19th 1958.

John recalls “We were the fastest 2nd VIII in the country and very proud of our achievement. It was at this time, the most important victory the school had won in the rowing world.”
