In memory of Reg Read

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of former teacher Reg Read, who was Head of Maths for many years at King’s and, at one point, stood in as Deputy Head of School. Reg served the school for 36 years before he retired in 1999.

He is remembered as a formidable character and a highly respected and talented mathematician.

Reg was a very good sportsman playing football and cricket well into his forties. He was a county hockey player in his youth and was also one of the staff team who ran school camp and school ski trips. He is also credited as starting the ‘Times crossword corner’.

Reg’s funeral is being held on Friday 8th September, at 12 noon, at St Werburgh’s Church, Grosvenor Park Road, Chester CH1 1QJ, followed by a private family only service at the crematorium, then Boughton Hall Cricket Club for all those who wish to attend.

A full tribute to Reg will be published shortly.
