The Back Garden Challenge – Willow Lodge and Juniors Unplugged Tuesday!

To celebrate the end of Lent term on Tuesday 31 March, we have put together some fun challenges for pupils to try at home and share with their classmates.

  • How does it work?
The five challenges are for all pupils in Willow Lodge and Junior School and are based on the nature to be found in our own back gardens
Entries open at 8.50am on Tuesday March 31
Each pupil can attempt as many challenges as they like, but only one entry per challenge is allowed – so make sure it’s your best attempt!
Every entry gets a House point or Dojo point with bonus points awarded for the top five entries, as judged by Mrs Ainsworth.

Check @kingschester and our Facebook page throughout the day to see how your classmates are getting on.

We’ll do an ‘end of play’ round-up on Tuesday and Wednesday at www.kingschester.co.uk – including a running total of House and Dojo points!

Entries close at 4pm on Tuesday 31 March – winners announced on Wednesday 1 April!

Nature Challenge 1
Extreme Reading
Where is the most unusual place in your garden you can enjoy your favourite book? Find a spot in amongst nature and ask your parent to send a photo to unplugged@kingschester.co.uk with your name in the subject line (just in case you are hidden in a bush!)

Nature Challenge 2
Wild photography
Get out and about in your garden and capture a snapshot of what you find. Will you be lucky enough to spot a bug up close, or a daffodil about to bloom? Maybe you’ll even take a photo of a mystery item in your garden and ask Mrs Ainsworth to guess what it is! Ask your parent to send it to unplugged@kingschester.co.uk – make sure you add your name.

Nature Challenge 3
Picture Perfect
Collect leaves, twigs and any other natural materials you can find in your garden to create a picture celebrating the season of spring – you can add paint or other art products to bring your picture to life. Ask your parent to send it to unplugged@kingschester.co.uk – make sure you add your name.

Nature Challenge 4
Fairy Garden or Bug Hotel – you decide!
Can you create a magical fairy garden of sprawling bug hotel – maybe even both! With you parents permission, yo can use items from your house to help construct your design. How about Lego or some cardboard tubes? Try and sketch out your plans first and make a list of all the things you’ll need. Ask your parent to send it to unplugged@kingschester.co.uk – make sure you add your name.

Nature Challenge 5
Wacky Garden Olympics
What silly races and assault courses can you come up with in your garden? Why don’t you make some tin foil medals for the winner in your family? Send your photos or video clips to unplugged@kingschester.co.uk and Mrs Ainsworth will pick a top five of the silliest!

Remember – the challenges start at 8.50am on Tuesday 31 March and you enter throughout the day! You earn a House or Dojo point for every entry.

Good luck, everyone!
