Blue Peter award for Abigail

If you were watching Blue Peter on Friday, 10 February, you may have spotted a familiar face. 

Abigail Garner (J2P) was recently awarded a highly sought after Music Badge by the long-running BBC Children’s programme

In a once in a lifetime opportunity, she was invited to visit the iconic Blue Peter studios to receive her badge, as well as to talk about her family pets, JoJo and Mr Whiskers, in Henry’s Pet Corner. 

Abigail was awarded the badge after sending the Blue Peter team a video of an original composition and a piece of writing about her love of music and what playing means to her. She also sent producers of the show a photo of herself with her beloved pets. 

In addition to playing the piano, on which she is self-taught, Abigail has singing, French horn and drum lessons at King’s. She manages to keep up with an incredibly active after-school timetable of Brass Club and Choir.

She is also a student of the prestigious LIPA where she will be taking on the lead role of Mary Poppins in the their upcoming Summer production. 

Summing up her special day, Abigail said: “I felt so lucky to be invited to the Blue Peter studios in Salford. I not only got to meet all of the presenters of the show, I also got a behind the scenes glimpse into how Blue Peter is filmed. 

“It really was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I was so excited to share with JoJo, my Chihuahua and my family. I will wear both of my Blue Peter badges with pride.”
