Thanks to Emma Liney, Community Fundraiser at Claire House Hospice, for this week’s Careers Breakfast.
As well as explaining the work that Claire House Hospice does to support seriously and terminally ill children and their families, Emma also gave an interesting overview of the wide range of jobs available in the charity sector. Pupils learned that working for a charity could mean doing almost any imaginable job role.
Emma spoke about her own career journey which she began in teaching before moving into community fundraising, underlining a running theme from many of our recent speakers that careers are rarely linear.
Head of Futures, Clare Holland, thanked Emma for sharing her insights with pupils: “It was fascinating to hear from Emma about the range of careers within Claire House from medical and nursing care to counsellors and clinical psychologists, and from data analysts and accountants to payroll.”
Our next Careers Breakfast will be on Friday, 20 March with former pupil, Maddy Disndale (OKS 2017). Maddy will be sharing her experience of degree apprenticeships, careers in science, business development and changing careers at a young age. Senior School pupils can sign up on SOCS.
