Chinese New Year fun in Willow Lodge

Chinese New Year celebrations have been continuing in Willow Lodge with a special treat for the children.

Mrs Flew, one of our Infant 1 parents, delighted Wagtails and Woodpeckers this morning with a traditional Chinese Fan Dance. The children were spellbound by the dance, sitting beautifully still for the whole performance.

When she finished the dance, the children were given the opportunity to ask questions and there was no shortage of hands in the air!

Mrs Flew, who has previously performed at Chinese New Year celebrations in Manchester and at Chester’s Storyhouse, answered questions about the dance and about Chinese New Year celebrations, as well as about her home country.

Miss Gardiner, Infant 1 teacher and Director of Studies at Willow Lodge, thanked Mrs Flew for her visit.

She said: “The children have enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year, and Mrs Flew’s visit today has brought it to life for them.

We are very lucky to have such talented parents who are so generous with their time. I am sure that the children will remember this for a very long time.”
