On 27 November, young linguists in Removes put their language skills to the test as they followed a Spanish recipe to bake and decorate a batch of festive biscuits.
Devised by MFL prefects Immie, Max and Lily, the pupils worked together to translate the ingredients and instructions before getting to work.
There was a great sense of achievement when the deliciously perfect galletas came out of the oven and the real fun of decorating the star-, angel- and crown-shaped biscuits could begin.
French and Spanish teacher Miss Higgins oversaw the baking. She said: “This is the first year of Spanish for most of the pupils who came along today and it was great to see them embrace the challenge of translating and following a recipe in the target language.
“A special mention must go to Immie, Max and Lily who wrote and designed the recipe cards, and planned and led the session so well.
“I think that the biscuits would have make a great Christmas gift for family or friends but I don’t think any of them will last that long!”
