Children in Infant 1 didn’t have to run away to join the circus, the circus came to them!
To conclude this term’s topic, The Circus is Coming to Town, Willow Lodge was transformed into the Big Top for one day only as welcomed Angelo and Melanie from Magical Circus to teach them all about circus traditions, and to help them learn some circus skills of their own.
Melanie gave the children a fascinating insight into the history of the circus, including opportunities to dress up in traditional circus costumes, and stories from Angelo’s family who have been in the circus for generations.
Under Angelo’s watchful – and expert – eye, the children had a go at a range of circus skills including plate spinning and walking on stilts, before Melanie and Angelo put on a show to remember.
Deputy Head of Willow Lodge, Miss Gardiner, thanked Angelo and Melanie for bringing the circus to King’s.
She said: “What a wonderful way to finish our circus topic! The children really enjoyed the chance to be part of the circus themselves and they worked incredibly hard to master the skills that Angelo taught them.
“What I enjoyed the most was seeing how they learned from their mistakes and kept trying until they succeeded.”
