Co-curricular: Book Craft Club - The King's School Chester

Co-curricular: Book Craft Club

“I didn’t really know what the club was but it sounded interesting so I went along to find out and now I love it.”

At King’s, pupils are encouraged to try new things and challenge themselves through the range of co–curricular activities we offer. One group of Removes (year 7) pupils are a great example of this; even though they didn’t know what Book Craft Club was all about, they tried it out at the beginning of term and it has since become a firm favourite.

One of the pupils told us what the club was, and why they enjoy it.

She said: “We make mini books using different techniques, such as paper folding, stitching and even moving mechanisms. It’s good fun and I enjoy being creative. I also like being able to take home what I make.”

Today, pupils were busy making mini pop-up books in the library, and they were keen to show off the other skills they have been learning since the beginning of the school year.

As Christmas approaches, they will be combining the techniques they have learned into a mini festive book, and they’re already starting to think about the theme and design for their book.
