On Wednesday, 9 July it was an honour to be invited to the official opening of a new community garden at Grosvenor Manor Care Home in Chester.
As regular visitors to Grosvenor Manor during Enrichment afternoons, Sixth Form students were invited to contribute to the new garden with a piece of artwork.
The large-scale mural created by our talented Sixth Formers looked magnificent alongside contributions from a number of other schools, nurseries and community organisations and will ensure that, even in winter, the garden will be filled with colour.
During the opening ceremony, the Wellbeing Coordinator, Lisa, spoke of the connections that had been made by residents and young people during the garden project, and of the lasting joy that the garden will bring.
The King’s School was represented by Head of School, Rory Mallinson. He said: “I felt privileged to be at the opening of the garden today and to see how so many groups had come together to work on one project. The King’s mural looked amazing and I am proud that it is a part of such a joyous space.”
