Cross Country: Young runners race to success - The King's School Chester

Cross Country: Young runners race to success

Our Junior School cross country runners returned from their recent trip to Scarisbrick School muddy but incredibly happy after a superb performance!

Racing in the ISA Northern Cross Country Championships, a total of 36 runners represented King’s, competing against schools from across the North of England.

In a competitive field, the King’s pupils delivered impressive team performances with the J1/J2 boys and girls both securing first place, and the J3/J4 boys and girls both achieving a commendable third place.

An incredible seven runners also qualified for the national finals, which will be held in Dudley at the end of February.

The pupils were accompanied by Mr O’Neil, Mrs Grove and Mrs Willis, as well as a group of hugely supportive parents.

Mr O’Neil praised the runners’ performance: “I am incredibly proud of all of the pupils who took part. Their attitude, determination and support for one another were outstanding and the results are a reflection of the hard work they put in at training week after week. Qualifying seven runners for the national final is an amazing achievement and we are looking forward to cheering them on at Himley Hall at the end of the month.”

Congratulations to all pupils on a superb performance and best of luck to those who will represent the school at the national final.
