Dutton crowned House Song champions

In Senior School and Sixth Form, Michaelmas Term ended with the annual House Song competition.

Following weeks of rehearsals and fine-tuning, the big competition was held in the Vanbrugh Theatre on Friday, 14 December.

Removes pupils, who will join their House next year, took their place in the theatre as the judges for the competition. They voted online after each performance, awarding between one and ten points.

The audience was treated to an eclectic mix of songs ranging from Grosvenor’s rendition of an Oasis classic to Lester-Smith’s superbly choreographed Bear Necessities

After the votes were counted, Mr Hartley declared Dutton as the winners, presenting the trophy to Dutton’s lead prefects, Nithikka Senthil-Kumar and Honey Holmes.

Dutton performed a version of Blame it on the Boogie which had been perfectly choreographed to give every student – and teacher – their moment in the spotlight.

Assistant Head Pastoral, Stephen Prest, hosted the end-of-term event.

He said: “The House Song competition is a fantastic opportunity for students to work together across the year groups in their Houses, but the real fun is had when we come together as a whole school to enjoy the occasion and the competition!

“My thanks go to the Removes pupils, who took their role as judges very seriously, to Mr Mannix in the theatre who managed the event so well, and to all the performers who made the end of term so memorable!”
