GALLERY: GCSE joy for jubilant students

The wait was finally over for jubilant students at The King’s School as they celebrated outstanding GCSE results.

All the hard work and dedication paid off with 30% of all pupils achieving five or more grades 9s and 32% of all grades awarded at the highest possible level of grade 9.

Ten subjects celebrated more than 60% of grades at 9/8 (A*), with particularly strong results in History (69% grade 9s), Biology (81% grade 9/8) and Physics and Chemistry (71% grade 9/8).

The year group performed exceptionally well overall, with 59% of all grades at 9/8.

Congratulations to the following students, who achieved grade 9 in all subjects:

  • Rohith Muthuvelu – twelve 9s
  • Adam John – eleven 9s

They were congratulated by Headmaster George Hartley.

He said: “There was much anticipation amongst the year group for these results and I am so delighted that they can now celebrate everything they have achieved. These results are down to sheer hard work and focus.

“Like all of our school community, they weathered the storm of the pandemic with a determined sense of ambition, and I know that this will have prepared them well for the next stage of their academic journey.

“I very much look forward to welcoming them back to King’s as the newest members of our Sixth Form in just a couple of weeks’ time.”
