On Thursday, 2 July, a memorable two-night run of Mary Poppins Jr, performed by our incredible J4 cast, came to a close. Pupils performed to two full houses in the Vanbrugh Theatre, marking the culmination of many weeks of learning lines, perfecting choreography and practising songs.
The J4 production is an annual highlight in the Junior School calendar and this year’s show did not disappoint.
Head of Willow Lodge and Junior School, Mrs Dewhurst, was blown away by the cast.
She said: “This is my first time at a King’s Junior School production and I have been astounded at the quality, not only of the acting, singing and dancing, but also by the set, the music, and the professionalism of everyone involved.
“This has been a truly collaborative effort from all pupils and staff; from hair and make-up to backstage crew, and from set design to the magic we witnessed on stage, everyone has given their all to this production but nobody more than our director, Mr Melville.”
“So impressive were the performances, I kept having to remind myself that I was watching children of primary school age up on stage and that is because Mr Melville gets the best out of every child, even those who were taking to the stage for the very first time.”
Congratulations to cast and crew!
