Gallery: Pupils celebrate cultural diversity at King’s

The second annual King’s School Culture Week was a resounding success, showcasing the rich cultural diversity that defines our school community.

The week culminated in a special day of cultural celebration organised by the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion pupil group under the guidance of our acting EDI coordinator, Mrs Ditchburn.

Mrs Ditchburn said: “This week has been very special, building on the success on last year’s inaugural Culture Week and ending with a wonderful celebration of cultural diversity with our Culture Fair.

“The Culture Fair truly was a treat for all the senses; the colours of the national dress worn by pupils, the range of culinary delicacies from every continent, the sound of Funk Band delighting us all with music from around the world, and even Greek pot smashing!”

Throughout the week, pupils engaged in a wide range of cultural activities, including a Capoeira workshop, language quizzes, and a lunchtime screening of the Japanese animated classic Spirited Away.

Mrs Ditchburn added: “Opportunities to learn about one another’s heritage—and to celebrate our own—are incredibly valuable.

“Our school community is enriched by the diverse cultures we represent, and Culture Week has established itself as a real highlight of the school calendar.”
