The sun came out for this year’s Willow Lodge Sports Day, and parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters were out in force to support our young athletes.
In the morning, children in our two Reception classes took part in a series of races, including the Mountain Rescue Relay. In a nod to this year’s chosen charity in Willow Lodge, the children worked as a team to be the first to cross the line dressed as a mountain explorer!
In the afternoon, it was the turn of our Infant 1 and Infant 2 children who took part in classic races such as the sack race, egg and spoon, and a relay race, as well also having a go at the Mountain Rescue Relay.
Head of Willow Lodge and Junior School, Michelle Dewhurst, reflected on a fun, day.
She said: “The children had lots of fun today and it was great for them to be able to show parents, siblings and grandparents the skills they have been working on this term.
“This was also my first Sports Day at Willow Lodge and what has struck me the most is the incredibly supportive and warm atmosphere up on the field today. It has been just wonderful to see the whole school come together to celebrate sport in this way.
“Huge thanks have to go to our class teachers and teaching assistants, as well as our sports coaches, who worked so hard to prepare the children for Sports Day.”
Thank you also to the KSPA volunteers for providing refreshments, and to the Junior School pupils for their invaluable support throughout the day.
