Delighted GCSE students celebrate with family and friends

Following weeks of uncertainty GCSE students at The King’s School were delighted to pick up some outstanding results and celebrate their achievements with family and friends on Thursday.
Teachers were thrilled to have the opportunity to invite students into school to pick up their results in person and were on-hand to offer their congratulations. The vast majority of them will now  join King’s Sixth Form in September to embark on the next stage of their education.

Headmaster George Hartley said: ‘It was lovely to see so many happy faces this morning when the students received their grades. It hasn’t been the easiest of times for them over recent months and weeks and they fully deserve the psychological boost provided by success.

“Whilst it obviously is different this year with them not getting grades for summer exams, they all deserve a great deal of credit for the hard work and efforts invested during their GCSE course that ultimately contributed to their results. They should now be looking forward to their future studies back at school from September with real confidence.”

Congratulations to the following students who achieved 11 grade 9s:
Anna Harris; Lily Kenningham; Daniel Kiely; Maria Rich; Charlotte Scott and Isabelle Thane.

Other high performing students include:
Avinandan Sengupta (10 grade 9s, one 8), Toby Ellis (nine grade 9s, two 8s), Emilia Jenks (nine grade 9s, two 8s), Isabella Jones (nine grade 9s, two 8s) and Calum McCaig (nine grade 9s, two 8s).

The following students gained eight grade 9s:
Aryan Agarwal, Anthony Audas, William Burrows, Edmund Hartley, Anisa Kiely, Jake Liddle, Isla Plass and Partap Shergill.

Head of Sixth Form Mr Carter said: “I am really pleased that this year group is now able to focus on, and look forward to, their A Level studies. They have faced a unique set of challenges and it’s to their credit that they have remained so positive and enthusiastic about progressing to the next stage in their chosen subjects.”
