Thank you for our mud kitchen!

Grateful pupils presented a thank you card and present to a member of our Facilities Team, who was kind enough to build them a surprise mud kitchen in the school’s woodland area whilst the children were away on summer break.
Mark Jenkins said, “When the request was put in for a new mud kitchen in Willow Lodge, I decided I would love to do it as I was inspired looking at other mud kitchens and had lots of ideas about how to create a new one.
I enjoy building things out of wood and wanted to create something that would benefit the school, the children’s education and give the children a great deal of enjoyment using it.
My aim was also to use mainly recycled materials and it probably is approximately 90%.”
The wonderful new resource has proved to be a huge hit with the children and staff alike.
Jan Callaghan, Deputy Head of Infants, said “The children thoroughly enjoy using the mud kitchen on a weekly basis. They love making all kinds of potions and concoctions. The open-ended resources we provide in Forest School allows them to use their imaginations and investigate the world around them freely.
We would like to extend our thanks once again to Mark for giving our pupils even more opportunity for play and exploration.”
