Congratulations to James Burton (J4M) who impressed judges with his cello playing at the recent Eisteddfod yr Urdd in Anglesey and won his category
Bringing home a gold medal and a trophy during the half-term holiday has given James a real taste for competing and he is already looking forward to next year’s event.
James is pictured here with the Head of Willow Lodge and Junior School, Mrs Dewhurst, who presented his trophy to him for a second time in assembly this week.
She said: “James is a very talented musician. He played a solo in our Junior School celebration concert at the end of the last half-term, enrapturing the audience from the beginning of his piece.
“He has also been awarded the 2026 Senior School Music Scholarship and I have no doubt that he will continue to play an active and important part in the musical life of King’s as he moves on from the Junior School.”
James’ talents extend beyond the string section; as well as playing cello to a grade 5 standard, he will also sit his grade 5 trumpet exam this term.
