At this year’s Harvest Festival, we gave thanks for the generosity of our Willow Lodge and Junior School families who donated an incredible selection of children’s clothes, toiletries and baby essentials in aid of Kidsbank Chester.
Willow Lodge pupils joined Junior School pupil for their first joint assembly of the year in the Consterdine Hall and learned about the importance of Harvest Festival, as well as the work of Kidsbank. Favourite harvest-time hymns were sung with great gusto by all of the children before the Junior School choir took centre-stage to end the celebration on a high note.
Dee and Katie from Kidsbank joined the children for the assembly and thanked them and their families for their donations. They also explained what their generosity will mean to lots of families in Cheshire West and Chester and in Flintshire.
Dee Denton is the CEO of Kidsbank: “I am blown away by the generous donations from the children and their families.
“At Kidsbank, our aim is to alleviate the impact of child poverty and we provide practical help to families as quickly as we can. We will now bundle together these donations to gift to families in need in the local area.
“The gifts from King’s School families today will go a long way to helping families who are struggling to afford essentials for their children. Thank you.”
After the assembly, members of the Junior School charity committee helped the Kidsbank team to load the donations into their van. They will now be sorted by volunteers at the charity’s hubs and bundled into gift packages.
