Hockey: Adam chosen to be a Young Ambassador

Congratulations to Adam Thwaite (5BRD) who has been named as a Hockey Young Ambassador for Hockey Wales.

Adam has been playing club hockey for a number of years, most recently for Eirias Hockey Club and put himself forward to be considered for the Hockey Young Ambassador (HYA) programme which is run by Hockey Wales in conjunction with the University of South Wales.

Adam is passionate about the benefits of hockey on the emotional and physical wellbeing of young people, and encouraging others to take up the sport will be one of his key focusses as he begins his new role.

He has already taken part in a project with Action for Children, discussing the struggles that teenagers have experienced during the Covid pandemic and how sport can help to mitigate any stresses, and he has been putting his coaching and umpiring qualifications to help younger players at his club.

Adam is currently studying for his GCSE in Physical Education and is excited by the opportunities that the scheme will give him to learn more about the sports industry and to widen his experience of working in sport.
