Hockey: Girls take on the top flight

Congratulations to Priya Kerfoot (U6GRO) and Anna Walker (5FOX) who both recently made their debuts at National Premier League hockey team, Bowdon Hightown.

Priya and Anna, who also play hockey in school, were both in the U18 team who won the Cheshire Cup this season.

Director of Hockey at King’s, Simon Egerton, is proud of their achievement.

He said: “Bowdon are currently sitting mid-table and are assured of Premier League hockey next season; Anna and Priya should both feel very proud of their achievement.”

At Bowdon, Priya and Anna play alongside their PE teacher, Ellie Halstead, who is pictured below with both girls.

Mr Egerton said: “Miss Halstead combines her teaching with a near full-time training programme at Bowdon, regularly playing against professional hockey players that include athletes in the GB hockey programme.

“She is a fantastic role model for all of the girls in school, a great example of what can be achieved with commitment and hard work.”
