Hockey: U14 boys crowned Secondary Sports Team of the Year

On Thursday, 30 June, our U14 boys hockey team added one more trophy to the cabinet at the annual Chester School Sport Partnership Awards.

After a hugely successful season that culminated with a silver medal at National Finals at the Olympic Park, the U14 boys were named “Secondary Sports Team of the Year”.

As many of the team members were unable to attend the awards ceremony, Mr Gill presented the trophy and certificate to the boys in school.

Recalling the many successes that the team have had this season, he congratulated the boys on their latest award.

He said: “These boys have had a phenomenal season and I am delighted that they have been recognised in this way for their superb teamwork and fantastic achievements.”

Acknowledging their coaches’ role in their success, the boys also presented Mr Egerton and Dr Ashcroft with a gift as a token of their thanks.

Director of Hockey, Mr Egerton, thanked them for a memorable season: “We have had a season we’ll never forget and I am grateful to each and every member of the team who gave their all in training and on the pitch.

“They deserve a relaxing summer but I’m looking forward to getting back on the training pitch with them as soon as school starts again in September!”
