On Monday, 22 May, Junior School pupils were excited to welcome author Chris Smith to hear all about his new fantasy book, Clarity Jones and the Magical Detective Agency.
Chris, who released his first solo book, Frankie Best Hates Quests in 2022 and used to read the news on BBC Radio One, is also co-author of the Junior School library favourite Kid Normal series with fellow DJ Greg James.
Pupils were treated to an exclusive reading of Chris’ new book before being set to task by using their imagination to come up with characters and a plot for a new story.
After the assembly, Chris chatted to the children as he signed copies of his new book which our pupils had exclusive access to just days before its launch.
Ruth Davies, Junior School librarian said: “Chris was fantastic and really engaged with the children, encouraging them to unlock their imagination when it comes to writing.
“We always love it when popular authors come to visit us; it’s great for the pupils to see the author in real life and not just a name on a page.”
