King’s Community runs for Rohan

On Friday, 2 June, members of the King’s Community came together to remember former student Rohan Ingley and raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer at the annual Deganwy Dash.

Rohan, who joined King’s in Junior School, sadly died of Leukaemia in 2018 when he was in the Sixth Form. As one of Rohan’s chosen charities, his friends and family continue to support Young Lives vs Cancer and the Deganwy 5-mile Dash attracts more than 300 runners every year to raise important funds.

This year, 14 members of staff and five Sixth Form students, along with numerous parents and alumni, took part in the race, many of them donning their Rohan’s Run team t-shirts.

Running on one of the hottest days of the year so far, they were all delighted and relieved to cross the finish line and receive their medals.

Headmaster George Hartley was one of the staff members who completed the run.

He said: “What a fantastic evening for so many people from our community to come together and raise money for a charity that meant so much to Rohan.

“It was great to see alumni George, Amelia, Catriona and Aled who were at school with Rohan, and I am very grateful to all of the parents who joined us on such a warm evening.”

Well done to Dr Hensman who achieved a time of 32:25, the fastest time of the King’s runners and 19th place overall.

Congratulations also go to Mrs Ranson, who was our fastest female runner and came eighth overall in the women’s race, and Mahir Ahsan (U6DUT) who was our fastest student and took first place in the under-23 category.
