On 23 March, King’s was privileged to play host to the Independent School Football Association (ISFA) Barry Burns Northern Eights competition.
Taking place for the first time since 2019, we welcomed 17 visiting teams from schools across the North of England to play in the long-established tournament.
The competition is named for Barry Burns, former ISFA chairman who passed away in 2020. Barry’s son Jimmy and daughter Caroline were present at the tournament today, along with a number of ISFA representatives.
King’s Deputy Head Operations, Tallan Gill, thanked ISFA for hosting the tournament at King’s.
Mr Gill, pictured with Jimmy Burns, Mike Askham (Vice Chairman of ISFA) and Mark Dickson (Chief Executive of ISFA) said: “It has been an absolute privilege to host this tournament today.
“As well as experiencing some great football, we also saw great sportsmanship on display from all of the teams today.
“Huge thanks go to our Director of Football, Barry Horne, who has worked so hard to ensure that our visitors today enjoyed the very best of King’s hospitality.”
Caroline Burns presented the Barry Burns cup to the winning team from Repton, who won 2-0 in an entertaining final against Queen Ethelburga’s.
