KSRC Alumni Reunion at Henley Royal Regatta - The King's School Chester

KSRC Alumni Reunion at Henley Royal Regatta

During the tea interval at Henley Royal Regatta, Henley Cricket Club warmly welcomed KSRC Alumni for a special gathering to celebrate the rowing milestones of 2024–2025.

It was heartening to see so many alumni and their families in attendance, reconnecting and reminiscing in the sunshine. The beautiful weather, lively atmosphere, and free-flowing drinks made for a wonderful afternoon.

Olympic gold medalist Harry Brightmore (OKS 2012) reflected on his unforgettable experiences at King’s and expressed how proud he is to be an alumnus of the school. Rowing Coach Steve Levitt (OKS 2003) shared his admiration for Harry’s journey and achievements, most notably his gold medal performance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The event also offered a poignant moment to honour the memory of two cherished members of the KSRC community who passed away this year.

Charlie Fox (OKS 1987) paid tribute to his late father, Mike Fox, who served as Master in Charge of Rowing from 1964 to 1994. Charlie spoke fondly of the enduring legacy his father left at KSCRC, and noted how proud he would have been to see both a boys’ and a girls’ VIII racing at Henley Royal Regatta.

David Wilkes (OKS 1967) shared heartfelt memories of David Roberts (OKS 1963), speaking to a crowd that included many former pupils who were fortunate enough to have been coached by him. David highlighted the profound impact that Roberts had on generations of young athletes, inspiring them to reach heights they never thought possible.

The event concluded with words from Interim Director of Rowing, James Gray, who thanked attendees for their continued support and extended his best wishes for the rest of the Regatta.
