Looking forward to Book Week

Book Week is an annual highlight in the King’s calendar and, since last year’s event was curtailed by the lockdown, next week’s celebration of reading promises to be better than ever.

World Book Day itself is on Thursday, March 3 and we are looking forward to seeing the fantastic costumes on display in Willow Lodge and Junior School as pupils dress up as their favourite characters.

Junior School pupils will also enjoy a virtual visit by author Hannah Gold on Thursday, and they will be voting for the all-important KSC Book Awards throughout the week.

In Willow Lodge, the whole day will be dedicated to books, and the children are taking part in a book swap so that they can share their favourite stories with their friends. Children can bring books to school at the beginning of the week for the big swap that will take place on Thursday.

In Senior School, the fun will last all week with a number of events planned by Mrs Harding and her pupil librarians:

  • Book Award voting will take place in the foyer on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week. All pupils are encouraged to vote for their favourite book.
  • Live Cluedo. Can you solve the library murder? Pupils will need to find staff who are holding clue cards and answer a book-related question to eliminate them from their enquiries.
  • ‘Shelfie’ competition – can you guess which bookshelf belongs to which teacher?
  • Removes Book Quiz.  Teams of four will battle it out to claim victory for their form group.
  • House Book Quiz – the hotly contested quiz is back! Which House will be victorious?
