In the week before Valentine’s Day, love was in the air – along with some excellent music – as Senior School performers took to the gallery for a Valentine-themed open mic on Tuesday lunchtime.
It was standing room only in the gallery as a large and enthusiastic audience of pupils and teachers came along to watch, listen, sing along and support the musicians.
Although the theme was Valentine’s Day, the performances covered a wide range of musical styles. A band of Fourths musicians played a rousing rendition of the popular Beatles classic It Must be Love, there were showtunes from our Shells girls, an Ed Sheeran classic from Removes pupil Harriet, and Oscar gave a lively performance of Teenage Dirtbag, which had the audience singing every word.
Director of Music, Debbie Whitfield, was thrilled that so many pupils came along to perform and support the event.
She said: “There was such a brilliant atmosphere, and I loved seeing pupils from all year groups in the gallery. It was a great opportunity for performers to share their talents and for everyone to come together during the busy school week.
“A huge well done to everyone who took part, I can’t wait for the next one!”
