This November, a group of dedicated sixth formers and staff embraced the spirit of Movember by growing their moustaches – some more impressive than others, but all proudly worn – to raise money and awareness for men’s health charities. Their efforts not only brought smiles to the school corridors but they were also a very visual reminder of the importance of talking about men’s health.
Alongside Movember, we also recognised International Men’s Day on 19 November with a thoughtful and engaging assembly led by a pupil panel.
Exploring what it means to be a man in today’s world, they encouraged everyone to break down stereotypes and acknowledge that strength includes openness, vulnerability, and connection. The panel highlighted the importance of talking, whether about mental health, relationships, or personal challenges, and why dedicating a day to men’s experiences helps raise awareness of the issues many face.
Movember ended with the annual vote for the “Mo of the Month”. Congratulations to Mr Beasley and Soham for winning the staff and pupil title respectively.
