Talented pupils earn place at National Youth Theatre

Five talented Senior School pupils are stepping firmly into the spotlight after learning that they have been accepted into the National Youth Theatre (NYT).

Following an open audition at Theatr Clwyd, the following pupils impressed auditioners to earn their place with the world-renowned organisation:

  • Alice Gooding (4GLA)
  • Ava Gordon (4BRD)
  • Ewan Holt (3DUT)
  • Freddie Hughes (4FOX)
  • Luca Simpson (4BRD)

The National Youth Theatre is one of the UK’s most prestigious youth arts organisations and is known for nurturing emerging talent and giving young performers the opportunity to train, create bold new work and collaborate with leading industry professionals.

Our pupils are following in impressively big footsteps as NYT counts a number of well-known actors amongst its alumni, including Dame Helen Mirren, Rosamund Pike, Daniel Craig, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Orlando Bloom, and Catherine Tate.

The successful pupils are now looking forward to taking part in the NYT summer course. Led by industry professionals, the course focuses on developing key theatre-making and performance skills and will culminate in a sharing of work to friends and families.

Following the course, each pupil will become an Acting Member of NYT and have access to a range of fantastic opportunities including casting auditions for NYT shows, creative leadership programmes and access to external castings.

Director of Drama, Clare Howdon, is very proud of the pupils.

She said: “This is an incredible achievement and so well deserved for all of them.

“They all absolutely shine on the stage and we have been lucky enough to witness their immense talent first-hand in our Senior School productions. I know that they will make the most of this incredible opportunity and that they will be inspired to take their drama even further.”
