Outstanding performance by girls in national mathematics competitions

Congratulations to six of our Sixth Form mathematicians who took part in two recent national maths competitions for girls.

Lower Sixth girls took on the Mathematical Competition for Girls (MCG), whilst girls in Upper Sixth challenged themselves in the Mathematical Olympiad for Girls (MOG), both organised by the UK Maths Trust.

Deputy Head of Maths, Mrs Sugarman, entered the girls for the competition and was very impressed with their results.

She said: “Both competitions are organised by the UK Maths Trust and are aimed at girls and young women across the UK.

“The MCG was only launched this year and our four Lower Sixth girls were among the first to take part – true mathematical trailblazers!”

“Both competitions demand advanced problem solving and mathematical skills and I am very proud of all of the girls who took part.

“Maths is one of the most popular A level subjects at King’s and we have some real mathematical talent in Sixth Form. I am delighted that this was recognised in these excellent results.”

Congratulations to the students pictures here who achieved merits and distinctions in the competitions:

  • Ting Lew (U6GLA) – Best In School (Olympiad)
  • Rachel Joseph (L6DUT) – Best in School (MCG)
  • Anvi Sairam (L6WER)
