Piano Lounge brings music to the heart of Senior School

The introduction of a piano to the Senior School Gallery has brought music to the heart of the school where impromptu piano playing and lunchtime sing-a-longs are an almost daily occurrence. 

Building on the popularity of the piano, the Music Department organised our first Piano Lounge this week, showcasing a fantastic variety of musical talent across the whole Senior School.

Highlights of the events included Music Scholar Caleb Ng (SHDUT) who gave a lively performance of Jackson St Blues, Removes pupil Heather Fletcher-Davies (RMRM) playing a fabulous jazz improvisation, and Chris Neal (5LES), who holds an ARSM diploma in piano, with his captivating excerpt from Grieg’s Piano Concerto. 

Director of Music, Mrs Whitfield, thanked the pupils who took part. She said: “It was been wonderful to spend a lunchtime enjoying such a fantastic range of music from our talented young musicians and I would like to thank all of the pupils who took part in our first Piano Lounge today. I am already looking forward to our next musical events in the Gallery.”
