Congratulations to a team of Sixth Form mathematicians who recently took part in the 2026 Liverpool Mathematical Society Pop Maths Quiz.
Hosted at Liverpool John Moores University, the Sixth Form Pop Maths Quiz is designed to be fun but challenging and annually attracts teams of young mathematicians from local schools and further afield.
Four pupils from Upper and Lower Sixth travelled to Liverpool to take part in this year’s competition, joining a more than 170 pupils from 21 schools, with teams from as far away as Jersey joining the fun online to take on the challenge.
The King’s team was accompanied to Liverpool by Deputy Head of Maths, Helen Sugarman.
She said: “Team competitions aren’t necessarily the norm in Maths and I was really proud of how our pupils worked together to solve a wide range of mathematical problems. They showed great collaboration and determination and should be very proud of their sixth place finish.
“Maths competitions like this are just one of the opportunities that King’s pupils have to extend their learning beyond the curriculum and it is great to see them challenge themselves in this way.”
Congratulations to all members of the King’s team:
