Pudding Races 2018

Earlier this month our annual Pudding Races were held at the Boat Club. With 14 VIIIs competitively racing all morning, with alumni, parents and athletes to support. A wonderful spirit was shown by all those who attended the event; with all athletes competing for the prized “puddings” whilst in wonderful Christmas themed fancy dress!

The pudding races also gave the club an opportunity to recognise achievements by our athletes and alumni. Three new fours were named after alumni: Olivia Rogerson (OKS15), Will Orchard (OKS07) and Wilf Le Brocq (OKS17), recognising their achievements in the sport since leaving King’s. John Blackwell also awarded the “Scantlebury Duck” to William Meakin (U6LES) which dates back to the 1960’s.

Then Alex Abberton gave a speech and was presented with a cheque for F.A.I.R (Funding Auto Immune Research) for £3,810.54, from making a new world record of rowing a million meters in 17 hours, 20 minutes and 25 seconds in memory of Finn Abberton (OKS14 & 1st VIII 2012-2014).

Many congratulations to Nutcracker – the winning team formed of: Freya Beyeler (4WER), Natasha Crees (5WER), Alex Crees (4WER), Nial Eddleston (4FOX), Molly Ferrara (5BRD), William Meakin (U6LES), William Standing (5WER) and Euan Dawson (L6LES). The winners from the J14 event were Team Holly: Mahir Ahsan (3DUT), Oliver Manning (3GRO), Gemma Moore (3GRO), Jack Morgan (3GLA), Tomas Wagenaar (3LES), Isabella Warrington (3FOX) and Pranith Yalamanchili (3WER).
