Pupils savour a mathematical feast

Congratulations to our Fourth Year mathematicians who recently won the Year 10 Maths Feast, a regional Year 10 Maths competition.

Held at St Mary’s Catholic College in Wallasey at the end of March, the competition was organised by the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP) and aimed to test problem-solving and teamwork skills through an ‘all-you-can-eat feast” of problems.

The King’s team came first in three of the four rounds, ending the competition as the highest overall point scorers. Congratulations to Henrietta Calvert (4FOX), James Christie (4GRO), Wiktor Lech (4BRD) and Chayil Oyedeji (4LES).

Deputy Head of Maths, Helen Sugarman, accompanied the team to the competition.

She said: “I am incredibly proud of the four pupils; they worked well together and employed a number of problem-solving skills to win the competition which was certainly designed to challenge even the most able mathematicians.”
