The King’s School Chester is celebrating a truly historic year of GCSE results, achieving the highest percentage of top grades since current records began.
A remarkable 84% of all grades were at grade 9–7 (A/A* equivalent) which represents the strongest performance in 16 years.
Overall, the results set new benchmarks for academic excellence with 37% of all grades awarded at grade 9 and 65% of all grades at grade 9/8.
56% of students earned three or more grade 9s, with almost 20 pupils achieving a perfect set of grades 9s and 8s
This success follows last week’s outstanding A Level results and prestigious university offers, marking an exceptional summer for King’s.
Headmaster, George Hartley, said: “These results mark a new milestone in the school’s history.
“To set a record for 9–7 (A/A*) grades in a school with such a strong academic legacy is a phenomenal achievement, and one that this year group should carry with great pride. Their success reflects not only their ability, but also their resilience, determination and sheer commitment to learning.
“What characterises this cohort is the way in which they support and encourage one another. Their strong sense of friendship and community has created an environment within which every pupil has been able to thrive, reach their potential, and in so many cases, hugely exceed it.”
