On Saturday, 8 June, three senior boys from King’s School Rowing Club (KSRC) travelled north of the border to Strathclyde Country Park to race in the Scottish Championships.
Finlay Noble (L6FOX), Ben Whittlestone (L6GRO) and Matthew Walker (U6FOX) are all eligible to register with Scottish Rowing and, along with two boys from Royal Shrewsbury School Boat Club (RSSBC), made the most of this opportunity to race two pairs and a coxed four.
With the support of Boathouse Manager, Richard Cox, they put in an impressive performance.
Finlay and his RSSBC pairs partner achieved 17th place finish in open pairs and third place finish in open junior pairs.
Ben and Matthew raced as a pair, achieving joint 18th place in open pairs and joint fourth place in open junior pairs.
After a successful morning, the boys raced in the J18 coxed fours, finishing second and winning a silver medal.
Director of Rowing, David Blackham commended the boys on their achievements.
He said: “A big thank you to Mr Cox for his support over the weekend. The boys enjoyed a cracking day thanks to their hard work and commitment.
“I am very proud of all three of them; two solid results in the pairs and a silver medal in the coxed four is a fantastic result.”
