School Librarian of the Year Award 2019 Honour List – Ros Harding

The School Librarian of the Year Award 2019 Honour List has been announced and we are delighted that Mrs Ros Harding has made it onto the Honour List.

Our Head Librarian and Archivist, Mrs Harding, has been recognised by the School Library Association (SLA) for the excellent work that is carried out in The King’s School library. Mrs Harding has made a huge difference to the lives of the King’s students over the ten years of working at the school. From organising book clubs, debate clubs, Harry Potter day, to supporting teaching staff with classes in the library, helping students with their Extended projects and advising on referencing, Mrs Harding truly exceeds expectations of a Librarian.

Mrs Harding has also established the popular School Book Awards which is one of the most important library activities each year. Alongside all of the work Mrs Harding does, she also empowers pupils and gives outstanding support and pastoral care.

When asking Mrs Harding about being on the Honour List she said: “I am delighted to be included on this year’s Honour List with two other incredible librarians. I am so lucky to work in a school that truly values its library and librarians and gives me the freedom and support to develop the library in this way.”

Sue Bastone, Chair of the SLA School Librarian of the Year Selection Committee, said: “The Honour List this year are a remarkable set of librarians. They have come through from an extremely strong field and the judges have had very difficult decisions at each stage. These school librarians are leaders in the field and exemplars for the profession.”

The Award ceremony will take place at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel London on Thursday 27 June where 2019 YA Book Prize winner Sara Barnard will announce the SLA School Librarian of the Year 2019.
