On Tuesday, 25th April 2017 three German teachers from the Gymnasium Oldenfelde School in Hamburg visited us here at King’s. Our aim is to establish a partnership between the two schools to organise and run an exchange trip in the future. Our German colleagues were shown around the library in the morning by Caitlin Thomas (4RC) and Lauren Barnes (3RA), Lily van Loock (3HS) and Maddie Ellis (3RA) showed them our music department. They enjoyed observing lessons in Modern Foreign Languages and had an introduction to our language lab and how we use technology in our lessons. At lunch time they met students from several year groups and asked and answered questions to find out similarities and differences between the schools.

Conor Donsbach (L6LM) and Poppy Allan (L6PW) gave them a presentation about the King’s School in German which they found very impressive.

An exchange will bring a fantastic opportunity to pupils to be able to find out about the German culture as well as being fully immersed in the language. We hope that many students will be inspired by their visit and will want to take part in the exchange. For further details, please contact Mrs Rowley Williams on marenrowleywilliams@kingschester.co.uk
