It was a pleasure to conclude the term with prizegiving ceremonies that recognised the achievements of our Senior School and Lower Sixth pupils.

Prizes are awarded annually for academic achievement, sporting excellence, as well as contributing to the school community.

Caleb is a committed and enthusiastic French Horn player who plays a vital role in the orchestra, brass quintet, and concert band. He is always punctual to rehearsals and brings a consistently positive and encouraging presence to every ensemble. Hang has shown great progress in his tennis this year and this is down to his fantastic attitude towards training and his desire to develop as a player
 
The David Ellis Memorial Prize Prisha Roy Mahapatra KS
In memory of David, a Fourth-Year boy who passed away in 1983, for the Fourth-Year pupils who have contributed most widely, academically and socially, to school life.
The Fergal O’Mahoney Prize for Keyboard Playing Christopher Neal KS
This year’s Keyboard Prize is awarded to a pupil who has demonstrated exceptional musical talent, versatility, and dedication. Christopher recently achieved his ARSM diploma with merit and continues to develop as a highly skilled and expressive pianist. He recently gave a joint concert at St Mary’s, performing a range of solo piano works and duets for piano with organ. The concert raised valuable funds for the church’s choral scholarship fund and showcased his musical maturity and generosity of spirit.
The Sarl-Williams Instrumental Prize for Strings  Leo Chick KS
In addition to his classical accomplishments, Leo continues to play piano in the school’s Funk Band and is a highly accomplished saxophonist, performing regularly with the Big Band, Dixie Band, and Concert Band. His contributions across so many ensembles reflect not only his technical ability but also his passion for music in all its forms.
The Sarl-Williams Instrumental Prize for Woodwind Leila Pope KS
Leila has been a committed member of the music department over this academic year, attending rehearsals and performing in music department concerts. She has been a key member of a number of ensembles including Concert Band, Big Band, Symphony Orchestra, Choir and Saxophone ensemble. Leila displays a high level of commitment and musical attainment on a weekly basis within The King’s School music department and recently achieved a distinction for her Grade 7 Saxophone ABRSM examination. She has contributed to the musical life of the school in a consistent manner and has always displayed a focussed and positive attitude, providing our younger musicians with a musical role model.

The Academic Essay Prize Connie Dawson KS
The Lower Sixth Academic Essay Competition is designed to allow students to demonstrate many of the independent academic skills demanded by universities.
Our independent judge commented that Connie’s essay was a carefully considered and well-executed essay that explores various aspects of language and power to form a confident and coherent argument. The use of sources is particularly apt and well-integrated, and the reader is guided by an assured and skillful writer. It is an impressive piece of work that demonstrates intellectual curiosity, clarity of thought, and strong critical insight.
The CAOKS Trophy for Football Charlie Beyeler
Charlie has been an exemplary 1st XI captain and has also been a hugely influential player in all facets of the game, contributing to a wonderful season including a national title.

Dominic has been an active member of Chester Sustainable Schools Network as well as one of the Head of Sustainability Prefects. He also took part in a Sustainability Careers Conference during October half term.

The Mumme-Young Hockey Cup Finn Leonard

Finn joined King’s at the start of this academic year and immediately demonstrated his excellence on the pitch, terrorising opposition defences, resulting in him scoring well over half of all senior goals this season.
