Senior School Sports Day 2025

The 2025 Senior School Sports Day was a celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork and school community.

On Tuesday, 3 June, pupils in Removes to Fourths competed for their Houses in a series of track and field events, as well as in Rounders, Tennis and nostalgic events such as egg-and-spoon and obstacle races that took them back to their younger days!

It was a particularly special day for Removes pupils who competed for their new Houses for the first time, displaying their House pride with flags, face painting and more.

Congratulations to Lester-Smith who were crowned the winning House with an impressive total of 453 points. Walsh took second place, narrowly beating third-place Bradbury by just five points.

The pupils gave their all in every event and we even saw some track and field records broken. Congratulations to Rosie Cropper (RMHS) who broke the Removes Girls’ 300m record with an impressive time of 51.11 seconds, and to Amelia Snowden (SHLES) who ran an incredible 2m 36.5 seconds in the 800m to claim a new Shells Girls’ record.

Other stand out moments in the day illustrated the determination, resilience and athletic talent of our pupils. Special mentions from the PE department went to:

  • Fourth Year girls Scarlett Gilruth (4LES) and Anja Harding (4LES) who raced brilliantly to take first and second place for Lester Smith
  • Leon Betteridge (RMRL) and Freddie Leslie (SHWAL) who pushed themselves in their races to only narrowly miss out on school records
  • Jonah Shepherd (3WAL) who ran back-to-back races in the 1500m and 300m
  • Ewan Holt (SHDUT) who wins the prize for Sportsmanship of the Day after completing a tough 800m with a smile on his face the whole way around

Thank you to the PE staff for the meticulous organisation of the day and all Senior School staff for playing their own important role in the day, Mr Lunn for his incomparable commentary, the KSPA for the very well-received tuck shop, our catering team for providing refreshments, and, of course, parents for cheering on the athletes.
