Sixth Form success in the Senior Mathematical Challenge

Congratulations to our superb Sixth Form mathematicians on their success in the recent UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge.

A total of 44 students took part in the competition and we were delighted to achieve an impressive total of 32 certificates; 17 Bronze, 11 Silver and four Gold.

A special mention goes to Toby Jones (U6DUT) who achieved a Gold certificate and was named Best in School, and to James Christie (L6GRO) who also achieved Gold and was awarded Best in Year for Lower Sixth. Our other two Gold certificate winners were Oliver Price (U6WER) and Vlad Balutiu (U6DUT) who all qualified for The Senior Kangaroo, which took place earlier this week.

The Senior Mathematical Challenge is a 90 minute, multiple-choice challenge which aims to encourage mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency. The problems on the Senior Mathematical Challenge are designed to be challenging and to make students think.
