On Thursday, 14 March, we celebrated Pi Day (3.14) with all things circles, maths and the other kind of pie!
The Maths department invited pupils to take part in a number of activities to celebrate the mathematical day.
Challenges included drawing a perfect circle on the interactive board (harder than it looks!) and memorising Pi to the highest number of digits. Congratulations to Amelia who memorised it to an impressive 81 decimal places!
Pupils also enjoyed creating a garland representing the digits of pi by writing their name on colour-coded strips, and they had great fun guessing the punchlines to pi-related jokes.
The activities were organised by Deputy Head of Maths, Claire Ranson.
She said: “It has been great to see so many students try their hand at our Pi Day activities and learn a bit more about the infinite number at the same time.
“The challenges were all huge fun and, of course, what else could we reward pupils with for their efforts but a mini apple pie!”
