The sports buzz is back!

After 18 months, the Wednesday afternoon sports buzz is definitely back at King’s.

For the first time since March 2020, this Wednesday saw a full roster of hockey, netball and football fixtures, as well as recreational sport. Director of Sport, Mr Lunn, was delighted to see so many teams in action.

He said: “It’s really exciting to see the new Astro and MUGA in use, but just to have everyone back playing, whether competitively or for fun, is amazing after so many months of disruption.”

Our 1st XI girls’ hockey team was in action against Kirkham Grammar, securing a comfortable 4-1 victory at full time. The 1st XI boys played away at Sandbach School, narrowly losing to a strong side containing an England U18 player

The netball 1st and 2nd VIIs welcomed Lymm High School and both games were played in great competitive spirit. King’s missed out on a win in both matches but can be proud of their performance.

In football, our 1st XI played a great match against Oldham Hulme Grammar School, winning 7-0, with the 2nd XI also winning with a score of 8-0.

A range of recreational sports were also on offer yesterday with pupils enjoying netball, football and basketball, as well as supervised fitness work in the gym.

Here’s to many more sporting Wednesdays!
