Cricket Coincidence!

King’s hosted the XL Club on Weds 19 April in their annual match which has become the season’s ‘curtain-raiser’.

The game ended in a draw, but the match was also notable for King’s captain Matthew Thompson’s (U6BH) century in his side’s total of 206 for 2. His 108 not out matched the score of Tom Jones (OKS) in the same match in 1985. This in itself is remarkable enough, but to add to the coincidence Tom was one of our guests for the day as a member of the XL Club team.

Tom and Matt were able to compare notes on their innings and we hope to welcome them both back in future years (it is Matt’s last term at King’s), though hopefully neither will score a century when playing against King’s!
