Izzie heading to Australian Commonwealth Games!

Congratulations to Izzie Howell (U6LES) who has been selected to represent the Senior Wales Hockey Squad at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

The squad was announced earlier this morning, with 18 girls being selected to represent their country in the upcoming Commonwealth Games which will be held in Queensland, Australia between the 4th and 15^th of April 2018. 

Izzie will earn her 1st senior cap in the first game of the Commonwealth Games against India.

At only 18 years old, Izzie is the youngest member of the senior squad and was selected to travel to Gran Canaria at the end of January to train with the team as they prepared for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Australia this April.  

The Gran Canaria camp allowed them an opportunity to adjust to the demands of warmer climates. During their time in Spain, the squad received coaching from the GB Elite Development Coach whilst also participating in five matches against Scotland, providing an ideal balance of training and game time to their schedule. 

The opportunity to represent her country at a world renowned International event such as the Commonwealth Games is a hugely commendable achievement.
